Legal Advice
The Union has specialist officials who can provide advice on a range of work related matters. More complex matters are referred to the Union's solicitors. Representation will be provided to financial members for industrial and professional issues arising out of the member's employment.
In regard to claims for damages for personal injuries and worker's compensation appeals, the QNU will provide legal representation subject to legal advice from the Union's solicitors confirming the likely success of such an action/appeal.
The Union will provide representation where appropriate before a range of tribunals including the Industrial Relations Commissions, Queensland Nursing Council, Health Rights Commission, Coroner's Court/Inquiry among others.
For other matters, the Union's solicitors will provide members with one free consultation (of up to 45 minutes) in respect of each matter, with a discount of 10% on any subsequent work. The Union's solicitor will not make any charge for preparing wills for members.
