 Barcaldine
Friday 2 May
A Sports Dinner will be held at the Barcaldine Shire Hall from 6:30pm. Contact Charmain on 46 515601 for more details.
Saturday 3 May
The “Tree of Knowledge Cup” will be run at the Barcaldine Race Club with a five event program and free entry. Rugby league trials at the Showgrounds Oval from 11:00am and the Speed Shears competition will be held at the Crawchie Pot after the races.
Sunday 4 May
Rugby league trials continue at the Showgrounds from 8:00am. The Barcy Revfest will commence at Barcaldine Aerodrome from 7:00am and the “Tree of Knowledge” goat races will be held at the Barcaldine Showgrounds from 1:00pm. Senior rugby league games will kick off from 4:00pm at the Showgrounds with a party afterwards under the grandstand.
Monday 5 May
The May Day Market will be held from 8:00am – 11:00am at the Information Centre Park. The May Day March and Celebrations will commence at 10:00am in Willow St continuing to the Showgrounds for awards, refreshments and entertainment. The “Tree of Knowledge” goat races will be held at the Showgrounds from 1:00pm.
Bowen
A march will be held on Monday 5 May with assembly at the Post Office, Powell Street at 9:30am. The march will proceed to the QRI Hall, George Street for a Family Fun Day with kid’s activities, BBQ, bar and entertainment. Please contact Angela Cornwell on 4786 1496 for further information.
Bundaberg
A march will be held on Saturday 3 May with assembly at the top end of Quay Street at Riverside Parklands at 10:30am for the march to start at 11:00am. The march will proceed to the Bundaberg Bowls Club for a Labour Day barbeque for delegates, officials and families and rides for the kids. Labour Day Dinner
The QCU Mackay, in conjunction with local ALP members, is holding a Labour Day Dinner on Wednesday 30 April at the Mackay North Bowls Club. There will be tables of six at $50 per head. LABOUR DAY DINNER
The dinner will be held on Friday 2 May at the Plaza Ballroom, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The dinner commences at 7:00pm for 7:15pm and the cost is $75 per head ($740 for table of 10). This includes table buffet, four hour standard drinks package plus entertainment. MAY DAY BOWLS CARNIVAL

Wavell Heights Bowls Club

Unions are urged to support the Annual May Day Bowls Carnival with the QCU once again the major sponsor.
The event will consist mainly of non-registered bowlers participating in a fun day of lawn bowling. Only one registered bowler allowed per team.
Organisations including businesses, unions, delegates, officials, members and the general public plus both past and present members should arrange their teams without delay as there are only rinks available for the first 42 teams entered.
All that is required is flat shoes or bare feet. Teams are encouraged to wear union or corporate gear, including T-shirts, caps and other identifying paraphernalia. It also makes for a great atmosphere.
Lawn bowls assistance, advice and encouragement will all be cheerfully provided if required along with breakfast, a hearty lunch and nibblies after the game. Musical entertainment is also laid on and will commence at 2pm. As usual there will be prizes galore!
