Blue Care / Wesley Mission Brisbane ballot has finally opened
Published: 22 August 2011
Many members would have received in the mail today a ballot paper on which to vote in the draft enterprise agreement.
The draft agreement should have been available for nurses to read for at least the last week.
Ballot papers were to be sent out by Blue Care/Wesley Mission Brisbane to all nurses’ home addresses on Friday 18 August.
The ballot opens today—so you can vote as soon as you get your ballot paper.
The ballot will remain open until 7 September, and will be counted on 9 September.
A QNU representative will be present at the count.
The first wage increase of 3 per cent will be backdated to the first full pay period after 1 July 2011.
If a majority of employees vote YES, the wage increase will be paid as soon as possible after the ballot is counted.
If the agreement is voted up, most other aspects will apply seven days from the date it is approved by Fair Work Australia—however some improvements are to be delayed until 1 January 2012.
These improvements are the changes to:
- parental leave
- annual leave loading
- double time payment for working on public holidays.
The QNU supports the draft agreement as an interim arrangement until a longer term agreement can be negotiated.
The next agreement is scheduled to commence from 1 January 2013, so negotiations will have to commence again by about July 2012.
By then we should know the federal government’s response to the Productivity Commission’s report into aged care.
