Queensland feels nurses' and midwives' payroll pain
Published: 20 October 2011
The Queensland public share our pain about emergency department waiting times and the Queensland Health payroll debacle, according to the results of a recent Courier Mail readers survey.
The results of the survey of 6,000 readers were released earlier this month, on the eve of the Let the Sun Shine In health forum. QNU Secretary Beth Mohle was one of five health leader panellists speaking at the forum.
According to the survey, 83 per cent of respondents disagreed that extended waiting times in hospital emergency rooms were acceptable.
Four out of every five respondents also disagreed with the way the payroll debacle was handled. Only 6 per cent of all respondents believed the government handled the payroll issues correctly.
The Let the Sun Shine In health forum was one of a series of forums being held by The Courier Mail to celebrate Queenslanders working towards the state’s bright future.
