Communities Say Yes Fortnight of Action in SEQ
August 1 – 14 is a fortnight of action to connect with friends, colleagues and the community to show them the support for a price on pollution. A number of events have been organized over the two weeks.
1. Door knocking activities
Two door knocking events are to be held over two weekends on August 6 and 7 and August 13 and 14. Volunteers will pair up to door knock suburbs and talk to residents about climate action.
For volunteers who prefer not to door knock, they can letterbox streets nearby or stay with the ‘information stand’ that will be set up at the meeting point.
Details for the door knocking events are as follows:
Weekend 1
Saturday 6th of August - Morning door knock
Kelvin Grove Road: McCaskie Park, outside QUT
- 10am: Meet and Brief
- 10:30am: Set off for doo rknock!
- 12:00pm: Debrief
- 12:30pm: Finish
Wynnum Road: Primrose Park cnr Sibley Rd and Wynnum Rd, Wynnum
- 12:30pm: Meet and Brief
- 1pm: Set off for door knock!
- 2:30pm: Debrief
- 3pm: Finish
Weekend 2
Saturday 13th of August - Morning door knock
Strathpine Road: Cnr Gympie Road and Strathpine Road, Strathpine
- 10am: Meet and Brief
- 10:30am: Set off for doo rknock!
- 12:00pm: Debrief
- 12:30pm: Finish
Brisbane Road: Ebbw Vale Railway Station (Ebbw Vale and Dinmore)
- 12:30pm: Meet and Brief
- 1pm: Set off for door knock!
- 2:30pm: Debrief
- 3pm: Finish
2. Transport Hubs Activity (ie. Buses and Trains!)
On August 10 volunteers are needed to hand out flyers to commuters at major bus and trains stations in Brisbane from 7-9am. We need at least 4 people at each location.
