DisabiliTEA (on Friday October 26) is an important annual event when people, organisations and community leaders come together in support of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) over a ‘cuppa’ and a chat. This event is part of Every Australian Counts, the national campaign for the NDIS.

The NDIS will provide much needed additional resources to improve the lives of people with a disability and their families and to address significant unmet need. The NDIS also promises better choice and control for people with a disability over their services and support.

We’ve seen significant progress with the NDIS campaign, with regional launch sites to be established next year and initial federal funding allocated. However, there is still a long way to go to ensuring the NDIS is made real for people with a disability and their families.

So far, more than 1700 DisabiliTEAs have been registered around Australia.
