We have received notice from the Australian Electoral Commission that for 895 QNU members their address is not current or not able to be mailed. The Queensland Nurses’ Union of Employees (QNU) has completed major rule changes which have streamlined the way in which elections can now be conducted.
As a result, of those changes, and an exemption provided by the Queensland Industrial Relations Act, the only election to be conducted will be for the Australian Nursing Federation QNU Branch (the Federal Organisation) and the members who are elected to positions in the Australian Nursing Federation QNU Branch will also hold the equivalent position in the QNU (the State Organisation).
This change means only one election will take place for the Executive and Council. This will alleviate the confusion that has occurred in the past with two ballots and two sets of papers, and will make it easier for you to participate in your Union’s democratic process.
The election notice above is for these elections, and you will, in the event positions are contested, only receive one set of ballot papers.
If you have any questions about this process do not hesitate to contact the QNU.
