The Newman LNP government’s decision to close Queensland’s main tuberculosis treatment and control centre at the Princess Alexandra Hospital will put the health of Queenslanders at risk.

Queensland Health wants to wind up the Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre (QTBCC) and devolve responsibility for managing tuberculosis to Hospital and Health Boards in regional Queensland.

The QTBCC assists to treat 240 new tuberculosis cases each year in Queensland. It must remain open to continue to ensure there is a controlled, coordinated approach to managing tuberculosis.

We cannot let the health of Queenslander’s suffer because of the Queensland government’s short-sightedness—join Queensland nurses at a rally to keep the QTBCC open.

When: Midday Wednesday, 8 August 2012

Where: Queensland Tuberculosis Control Centre, Specialised Health Services Building, Princess Alexandra Hospital campus, Cornwall Street, Woolloongabba.

Coming to the rally? Come during your lunchbreak or take TOIL.

Outside of Brisbane? Sign our petition at http://chn.ge/T5Bx8a and wear a black armband or t-shirt to work in support of the QTBCC remaining open.
