Workloads

Workloads have become an increasingly problematic and dangerous issue for QNU members in all sectors.

Nurses and midwives are working long hours, struggling for additional resources and often do not have the time or support needed to deliver the nursing care they’d like.

The QNU has developed a range of materials to support members in their sector to have their workloads issue addressed.

In the public sector

Public sector nurses and midwives can access a number of important resources developed by the QNU.

The QNU Workload Reporting form PDF icon should be completed by public sector nurses and midwives to get a workload issue addressed.

Public sector nurses and midwives are also encouraged to read the QNU’s Nursing and midwifery workloads: a QNU guide to using the BPF PDF icon. The booklet is an easy to use guide on how to take control of workloads using the latest edition of the Business Planning Framework (BPF): a tool for nursing and midwifery workload management.

In the aged care sector

To ensure action is taken on workload issues in the aged care sector, members need to be active at the health facility and local level.

Aged care members with a workload issue should complete the QNU Aged care workload reporting
form
PDF icon which is to be lodged with the senior nurse on duty and the Director of Nursing.

Aged care members can also complete the Aged Care Staffing Reporting Form PDF icon, which is an initiative of the QNU. By completing this form aged care members are providing the QNU with accurate information to follow up on staffing issues.

In the private hospitals sector

To ensure action is taken on workload issues in the private hospitals sector, members need to be active at the health facility and local level.

Private hospitals members with a workload issue should complete the QNU Professional workloads reporting form PDF icon which is to be lodged with the senior nurse on duty and the Director of Nursing.
