Superannuation

Following extensive campaigning by Australian trade unions, superannuation was introduced for most working people in the 1980s.

Since that time superannuation has represented an important long term savings plan for workers.

It is imperative that nurses and midwives take responsibility for their retirement by being proactive about their superannuation entitlement.

The two industry superannuation funds that apply to Queensland nurses and midwives are QSuper and HESTA Super Fund.

The QNU has published a Superannuation explained booklet for members which provides a good explanation about superannuation schemes and funds, how they operate, the fees they charge you, where your money is invested and explores super issues for nurses and midwives.
