13 Membership fees

(a) Membership fees shall be such amounts as the Council may from time to time determine provided that no fee increase shall exceed 25% of the existing fee in any one year without the approval of members voting at an Annual or General Meeting of members.

(b) Passive membership fees shall be such amounts as the Council determines from time to time but shall not exceed 30% of the full annual membership fee as determined from time to time by the Council. Council can also determine other special membership fees from time to time as required.

(c) Membership fees payable by part-time employees shall be such amounts as the Council determines from time to time but shall not exceed 75% of the full annual membership fee. For the purpose of interpreting this clause, “part-time” shall refer to an employee engaged to perform work of a nursing nature and whose hours of such employment do not exceed 24 in any week and who provides to the Secretary a declaration as to the number of hours per week of such employment with one or more employers.

(d) A “part-time employee” shall declare to the Secretary in writing the number of hours per week for which employed at the time of effecting membership and on each occasion membership fees fall due.

(e) Membership fees are payable in advance and:–

(i) shall be paid for the period of twelve months on or before 1 July of each year; or

(ii) shall be paid for such periods of time and on or before such due dates and by such methods as may be prescribed by Council.

(f) A record of payment shall be issued in the form authorised by the Union by a Union Official or such other person or agency approved by Council for membership fee collection purposes.

(i) to each person making application for Union membership in the prescribed manner and on payment of the appropriate membership fee;

(ii) to each member making membership payment in cash;

(iii) in all other cases to any member requesting such receipt at the time of membership payment.

(g) Any question of financial status of any member shall be resolved by examination of the Union books.
