The Queensland government has announced thousands of jobs will go from Queensland Health. Some of those jobs will include nursing and midwifery. These cuts directly contradict Premier Campbell Newman’s pre-election promise that his government would deliver ‘more nurses, not more red tape’. Read more »

There is a shortage of nurses and midwives in Queensland, and it’s getting worse. Queensland Health modelling suggests that their facilities alone will require up to an additional 6000 nurses and midwives to cope with extension of services by 2015. Read more »

Negotiations for a new EB8 agreement which details the wages and conditions of all Queensland Health nurses and midwives kicked off in October 2011. This round of negotiations will be unlike any other. The negotiations will occur in the midst of the payroll catastrophe due to which staff morale is at an all-time low and trust in the employer is non-existent. Read more »
