Nurses and midwives to vote on draft agreement – EB8 update

Public sector nurses and midwives across Queensland will vote on a draft new collective workplace agreement, which provides a three per cent annual pay rise or $30 per week, whichever is the greater, and a raft of other improvements to allowances and working conditions over the next three years.

Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) officials directly briefed the new Queensland Health Minister, Lawrence Springborg, yesterday afternoon, on the QNU’s expectations for a new public-sector nurses’ and midwives’ workplace agreement – EB8 – ahead of tomorrow’s (12 April) recommencement of formal negotiations with Queensland Health officials.

The Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) has this morning written to incoming premier, Campbell Newman, congratulating him on his victory on Saturday and seeking an urgent meeting with him, or his representative, to brief him directly on the state of negotiations for a new public-sector nurses’ and midwives’ workplace agreement – EB8 – and to recommence the negotiations as quickly as possible.
