Best placed to protect your interests

Our Union has now reached 40,000 members and continues to be one of the largest and strongest unions in Queensland.

With our collective strength we have achieved much over the past year. In the middle of the global economic downturn we won a 12.5% payrise for public sector members; in the face of resistant employers we negotiated collective agreements containing significant improvements to the wages and conditions of private hospital members; and we were active, through our national aged care campaign, in achieving significant gains for aged care nurses and care staff in the May federal budget.

QNU members and staff work very hard, publically and behind the scenes, to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic values and interests of members.

To ensure our Union is best placed to continue this important work, QNU Council has determined to slightly increase membership fees for the coming financial year.

We have increased fees to enable our Union to continue to provide adequate levels of infrastructure and support to meet demand from members and to continue our campaigns to improve our working lives, the health system more broadly, as well as the society in which we live.

While the decision to increase membership fees is not one taken lightly, it is in all of our best interests that the QNU has the resources and the capacity to face continuing and new challenges head-on.

Thank you for your continued membership of our Union.
