Your Council election results

Elections for the Councils of the Queensland Nurses’ Union of Employees* and the Australian Nursing Federation Queensland Branch** have been declared.
The new QNU Council consists of 24 elected honorary officials made up of six Executive members (including the President and Vice-President) and 18 Councillors, as well as the Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Union, who are full-time officials.
Congratulations to Secretary Gay Hawksworth and Assistant Secretary Beth Mohle, who were re-elected to their positions unopposed. Congratulations also to our new President Desley Geraghty-Rudd, who has stepped up from the Vice-President position, and our new Vice-President Sally-Anne Jones, who has been an active member in the QNU for many years.

Both the QNU and the ANF Councils combine for a general Council meeting once every two months, while the Executive meets between Council meetings to oversee the Union’s activities.
The Council is responsible for the management of the affairs of the Union, and oversees the implementation of Annual Conference decisions.
The QNU Council does all the things necessary to achieve all or any of the objectives of the Union’s Strategic Plan.
In addition, the QNU Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the Union and its staff. The Assistant Secretary is responsible for assisting the Secretary to ensure the efficient functioning of the Union and the implementation of all Council decisions.
