Your next opportunity to participate in our Union

Participation is an essential ingredient of democracy.

At all levels of our democratic structure members can be actively involved in our Union and in determining our future direction.

Shortly there will be an opportunity for members to participate in QNU Meetings of Delegates (MODs) in areas right across the state.

As a member you are encouraged to participate where you can to ensure your voice and the issues in your local area are heard by our leadership team.

QNU Secretary Gay Hawksworth or Assistant Secretary Beth Mohle attend the MODs to report directly on the activities of our Union and to hear from branch delegates (who attend Annual Conference) and members about issues of relevance to you.

The MODs also provide a forum for us to formulate recommendations to the QNU’s Council.

These meetings are held twice a year—before and after QNU Annual Conference—to ensure any Conference decisions or motions of relevance can be examined and reported on.  

MODs are convened in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Fraser Coast/Maryborough, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

For those wanting to learn more about our Union, MODs are a great place to experience first hand democracy at work.  

Regardless of how active you are in the QNU, your participation in democratic opportunities such as this ensures we are best placed to set the right direction for our Union.
