NMBA renewal and CPD non-compliance

Published: 16 July 2012

The QNU has recently learned that several QNU members have received letters from AHPRA notifying them that they have not met the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for the last registration period.

A sample of the letter is attached.

As you can see, the NMBA has noted that when renewing their registration, the member declared that they had not met the CPD requirements.

The NMBA proposes to refuse the application for registration renewal and invites the member to provide evidence that they have completed the outstanding hours, or make a written submission, by 31 August 2012.

Members who receive these letters should take them very seriously.

Failure to do the extra CPD or make a convincing submission by 31 August 2012 will likely lead to cancellation of registration.

Please note that the QNU does not propose to refer these matters for legal assistance, as legal advice will simply be that members need to do the extra CPD and provide that evidence to the NMBA by the due date.

A copy of the NMBA's FAQ on CPD is attached. Please pay particular attention to Question 8, which details the kind of activities which may be considered as CPD.

It is very important that members who receive such letters complete their CPD requirements, as failure to do so could see your registration renewal being refused.

Call QNU Connect on 3099 3210 or toll free on 1800 177 273 if you have questions about how to meet your CPD requirements.
