Make the most of the process to resolve underpayments at PAH
Published: 7 November 2011
We encourage you to make the most of the process to investigate and resolve historical underpayments currently being trialled in your workplace.
You should have now received advice from Queensland Health that its historical underpayment claims trial has commenced at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH).
This trial follows on from the underpayment trial which is close to completion at The Prince Charles Hospital.
Queensland Health would like to ensure that comprehensive testing of the underpayment claims process has occurred before the start of the state-wide program and this is why the second trial is occurring at PAH. The state-wide program will be informed by the key findings from these two trials.
Make the most of case managers in your workplace
A team of case managers are located at various sites at PAH until 25 November 2011 to investigate any historical underpayments that may have occurred under the new payroll system prior to 24 July 2011.
This trial is focused on historic underpayment claims rather than current claims.
If you have an underpayment which occurred before 24 July 2011 then you should arrange an appointment with an on-site case manager during the trial period. You can arrange an appointment by contacting the Statewide Hotline on 1800 239 074 (available 7am to 9pm, every day, including weekends).
Case managers will be on-site from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm weekdays and will be located in Switchboard Services, Ground Floor, Executive Building (Building 15), PAH. Access is via the reception area at that location.
If you are unable to meet with an on-site case manager during the trial period (due to holidays, leave or other reasons) you can still report your outstanding underpayment claims during the rollout of the statewide process. This will occur once the PAH trail has been evaluated.
Given the complexity of the payslips provided under the new payroll system and constantly changing payments, you have no doubt found it difficult to determine if you have been paid correctly. I hope Queensland Health’s new process will make it easier to identify if any wages are owed as well as ensure the quick reimbursement of any underpayment.
Please note that if you have a recent underpayment claim (that occurred after 24 July 2011) then you should report this to your local payroll hub for priority investigation and resolution.
Once again I encourage you to take advantage of the new process currently in place at PAH. This is something we have actively campaigned for, and with the additional resources now in place it is also your very best opportunity to resolve outstanding underpayments.
