Workplace health & safety
Workplace health and safety (WH&S) is a top priority for QNU members.
QNU staff work with members to increase emphasis on prevention and support better WH&S awareness and activity in the workplace.
The Union has been instrumental in promoting and supporting workplace health and safety campaigns, such as the ‘no lifting’ policy aimed at reducing the number of manual handling injuries suffered by nurses.
The QNU also provides support, advice and representation to members who sustain an injury or illness and who are entitled to make a claim for workers’ compensation.
Members’ WH&S interests are represented at various committees and boards and through advocacy and lobbying.
The QNU provides members who are elected Workplace, Health and Safety Representatives with resources and support.
